Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026

Short version: no advertising and no third-party tracking cookies. The only optional cookie is for my own, first-party analytics, and it is set only if you press “Accept”. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

Cookies from this website

  • wlt_consent — remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so the question is not asked on every page. Strictly necessary. Expires after 6 months.
  • wlt_vid (only after “Accept”) — a random ID used by this site’s own analytics to count unique visitors and see which pages and buttons are used. No personal details, no IP address, never shared; the data is deleted after 12 months. Expires after 12 months, and is removed immediately if you decline.
  • Site administrator only — WordPress sets login cookies (wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*, wp-settings-*) when the site owner logs in to manage content. They are strictly necessary and do not apply to visitors.
  • Hosting — the hosting and caching system may use a strictly necessary technical cookie for security or performance. It contains no personal profile and is not used for tracking.

Local storage

A few features remember small things in your browser’s local storage, which works like a cookie but is never sent to the server:

  • wlt-sc-best-… — your best score per game mode.
  • wlt-sc-daily — your result of today’s daily challenge, so you can only play it once a day.
  • wlt-sc-name — the name you last used on the scoreboard, so you don’t have to type it again.
  • wlt-interest-… — that you already pressed “I’d use this” on a concept project, so it is counted only once.
  • wlt-tip-view-until — when you pressed “Got it” on the grid/list tip on the projects page, so it rests for a week.
  • wlt-scroll (session storage, cleared when you close the tab) — your scroll position, so a page reload returns you to the same place.

This data stays on your device until you clear it. I cannot read it.

Scoreboard and your location

The Soundcheck scoreboard is optional. When you submit a score, your browser asks whether this site may use your location. If you allow it, the position is rounded to about 10 km and turned into a country code; only that country is saved, to show its flag next to your name. If you decline, the scoreboard shows “Location declined”. No cookie is used and nothing is tracked afterwards. Details are in the privacy policy.

Third-party cookies after you press play

Videos are shown as a still image with a play button. Nothing is loaded from YouTube, Vimeo or Spotify until you press play. YouTube videos then play in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), but the provider may still set cookies or use local storage — for example to remember your volume or to count views. By pressing play you agree to that for that video. Read more in how Google uses cookies.

How to control cookies

You can block or delete cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings. The site works fully without them — only the Soundcheck scores will be reset.
